Hello! I recently bought my laptop (HP i7-8750h) and during the first month everything was perfect. But since last week i noticed that my fans were running a lot faster than usual for no obvious reason and it was really annoying even 3-5 meters away from the laptop. The noise was not odd, just the fans running faster. This happens almost exclusively during gameplay and if i close or minimize the game, the fans run lower after a while. Sometimes they tend to run normal during gameplay for 1-2 minutes and then they go full speed for a while longer. The thing is that my CPU and GPU never run higher than 20-40% during gameplay. Today, i downloaded SpeedFan to monitor my temps and noticed that the fans run louder when my temps rise to 58C and stop when it gets little lower than that. My temps do not rise above 60C which is the highest temp i noticed. I suspect that the recent BIOS update i did changed something, because except the fan problem, start up and shutdown last a lot longer since the update. I'd like to hear your advise, thanks!

@Grumpymanager Try this first:
- Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
- Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
- On the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu, click System Tests.
- Click Extensive Test.
- Click Run once, or Loop until error.
- While the test is running, the time remaining and test result for each component display on the screen.
- If a component fails a test, write down the failure ID (24-digit code) for when you respond back to us.
Meanwhile, try the below steps:
Make sure there is at least 15% free space on the hard drive. For information about freeing up more space, see the Free space on the hard drive section of this document.
Update the BIOS. Refer to the HP support document HP Notebook PCs - Updating the BIOS or HP Desktop PCs - Updating the BIOS. If there is no BIOS listed for your version of Windows, choose the latest version of Windows from the drop-down menu and install that BIOS.
Update the graphics driver using Device Manager:
In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.
In the list of devices, expand Display adapters.
Right-click the graphics device, then select Update driver.
Click Search automatically for updated driver software, then follow the onscreen instructions to install the updated driver.
Restart your computer to complete the installation of the updates.

Thanks for the reply! So, let's see:
1) I had already done the Short Test 1-2 days ago and everything was succesful. I did not have the time to run the Extensive Test, but i'll run it tonight.
2) Before your recommendation i had 12GB/118GB free space on my SSD and i increased it to 33GB/118GB.
3) I reinstalled the BIOS which was the version i already had installed, but not the one that was originally running on the laptop when i bought it. F08 Rev A version. After the update i think i heard 1-2 times a different sound on the left fan for a moment.
4) I had already done the updates of the drivers and Device Manager found no updates. I did an update via GeForce Experience, the latest version of Game Ready Driver and a couple of others using Driver Booster.
5) After everything, i run the game i play most of the time (Football Manager 2019) and checked the way the fans work if i modify my graphics settings while i also checked my temps. When the GPU and CPU reach 50C the fans run a little faster but it sounds normal. When both the temps reach 53-55C the fans go crazy until one of these temps, mostly the GPU, drop below 50C. The higher the graphic settings, the faster it reaches those temps. Only on low the fans did not go crazy, because the temps were lower than that, but i think it's odd because it can easily run on High, even on Ultra settings and during the first month i played quietly on High. From what i understand, i think the BIOS update did more bad than good. Is there any way to test the previous version?
Thanks again for your time!

*Update*
I ran the extensive test overnight and everything was successful. No failures. The thing is that all night the fan ran like crazy during the test and now that i booted the laptop, the fans go crazy for no reason, at random times even when there are no programms running. I forgot to mention, after the last BIOS update some days ago, i had changed the 'Fan always on' on BIOS to 'On' and this seemed to help a little, because the fans ran exactly right now, at random times for no reason and this change led them to ran like crazy only during gameplay. So i went to the BIOS settings 5 minutes ago and the 'Fan always on' was enabled. I changed it to 'disabled' and booted the laptop. At first the fans were running like crazy and the temps were not even 50C. After a while they turned to normal speed with no temps alterations. Same temps. random fan speed. Not sure what is happening here.

@Grumpymanager You could use this link to attempt a BIOS recovery as you've mentioned in the previous post: Click here for details, if that doesn't work, you may want to backup all your information/data and then perform a system reset that would refresh your windows and help resolve this issue as it seems to be a software corruption considering the hardware tests have passed: Click here for steps.

I did the BIOS recovery and the laptop booted fast, the game is running on High graphics, the temps reach 54-55C but the fan is silent. Although the BIOS version is still F08, everything runs smoothly. Thanks, this did the trick!

@Grumpymanager That's awesome, I must tell you that BIOS updates are to be installed only to fix a certain issue you've been experiencing on the device, if you have no issues now, you don't need to upgrade/update the BIOS, that said, considering the fact that the issue is now resolved, I hope you are no longer a "grumpy" manager... 😉
Take care and have a great day, ahead.
And feel free to write back to us or tag me for assistance in the future.

Hi again! It seems that i'll remain a grumpy manager, because today that i booted my laptop again, i tried to play and the fans went full speed again when the GPU temperature reached 55C, which lasts several minutes. The CPU temp has no effect to my fans speed issue. I play on High graphics on 60 FPS. The only thing that helped was to put the graphics on low, which led the GPU to reach max 53C and thus the fans did not go crazy. Now i' no expert, but 55C seems too low to trigger such usage from the fans.

@Grumpymanager It's time we put this to rest once and for all, and stop being grumpy forever 😉 I suggest you check the processor information: Click here (Tjunction) shows the temperature your device can handle and as you see, it should work fine all the way up to 100-degree Celsius.
That said if the device is still creating the fan noise after everything we went through, so far! I suggest you talk to HP support and discuss your options:
follow the below steps to get started:
1) Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/
2) Click on "Continue as guest".
3) Enter the serial of your device.
4) Select the country from the drop-down.
5) Click on "Show Options".
Fill the web-form, to populate a case number and phone number for yourself!
Also, if you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty, is yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from,
