@Mohamad_Samad1,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

If your laptop is becoming very hot and you never hear or feel any airflow from the vents, that is absolutely not normal, even if the system is used only occasionally.

So, to get started with some troubleshooting, here are a few things to check:

  1. Confirm whether the fans are truly not running
    • Place your hand near the air exhaust vent while the laptop is under load (for example, during Windows Update, a virus scan, or while streaming video).
    • If there is no airflow at all and the system becomes hot, the fans may not be operating.
  2. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
    • Turn the notebook completely off.
    • Power it on and repeatedly tap F2 to enter HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
    • Run the System Fan Test if it is available.
    • Note any failure ID or error message.
  3. Check BIOS settings
    • Enter BIOS Setup by pressing F10 during startup.
    • Look for a setting such as Fan Always On or similar and ensure it is enabled if available on your model.
  4. Update BIOS
    • If the laptop has been used only occasionally, it may be running an older BIOS version.
    • HP occasionally releases BIOS updates that improve thermal management and fan control.
  5. Monitor temperatures
    • In Windows, you can use a utility such as HP Hardware Diagnostics, HWMonitor, or HWiNFO to check CPU temperatures.
    • Temperatures consistently above 90°C under light workloads would be a concern.
  6. Consider a hardware issue (most common, btw)
    • If the fan test fails, or if there is no airflow even when the laptop is very hot, the fan cable may be disconnected, the fan may be defective, or there may be a motherboard-related issue.
    • Since the laptop is relatively new, warranty service may be the best option if diagnostics indicate a hardware failure.
    • Speaking of warranty, please check your warranty status.

Questions:

  • What is the exact HP model or product number?
  • Does the fan ever spin audibly during startup?
  • Are you receiving any messages such as: "System Fan (90B)" or "Fan not detected"?
  • What operating system is installed?

Those details would help narrow down whether this is a software/firmware issue or a hardware failure.

Kind Regards,
