HP Spectre x360 - 15-df1033dx
Microsoft Windows 11

I have a HP Spectre x360 15-df1033dx, live in Brazil and I have been using my laptop for less than 2 months after receiving it back from a long trip to HP Service Center in US where they replaced mainboard, both fans, heatsink and memory.

Since I got it back, I’ve been monitoring the system’s temperature and noticed that the CPU kept hitting 100 degrees Celsius with ease. Averages were always about and above 65 oC.

I use my laptop for regular stuff like web browsing and watching videos.

So, 2 days ago, the fans made a loud noise and than it seemed to went back to its normal. Checked the temperatures and it was operating like a normal day.

But, on the next day, I turned the laptop on and went check the temperatures again and noticed it was hit 103oC what never occurred.

Immediately I thought about the fans and, for my surprise, both sides were not working. Quickly, I closed the lid and the laptop turned off.

So, I opened it to make sure about the fans and saw that they started spinning after pressing the on button and, after 2 seconds, they stop and I only wait a little more seconds for windows 11 finishes its boot to close the lid to turn it off.

And it was the same thing every time I repeated this procedure.

Reading a little bit about some possible solutions, I tried the hard reset and, as I turned the ir back on, the fans were working properly!!!

On the screen, appeared the prompt asking me if I wanted the to reboot the system or reset the CMOS.

As I chose to reboot, right after that, the fans stopped again as the windows 11 was starting.

So, it looks like the fan is working but something during the windows boot sequence is making they stop.

Please, does anyone have a clue of what is going on and what can I do by myself since there is no HP support for this model here in Brazil?

Thanks a lot in advance.

WhatsApp Image 2022-04-30 at 15.25.36.jpegHello Ninvana_95!

First of all, I want to thank you a lot of your time and caring with my issu.

Second, I would like to apologize for taking so long to reply to you. I was tavelling and did not had my computer with me to try all the ways you pointed as possible solutions.

And third, unfortunately none of the approches worked. Everything is updated, hardware tests didn´t showed anything and that fan adjustments didn´t make the fan start to work back.

The picture that I posted is the first screen that appears after the hard reset and from turning it on until this screen, is the only period that both fans work. Right after that screen, that disappears automatically, the HP logo comes up and the fans stop to spin.

So it seems, it is not the fan itself that is not working. Do you think it could the something in Windows 11 that is blocking the fans to spin?

Just for your knowledge, I´ve uptaded my computer to Windows 11 ever since I got my computer back and didn't presented any issue.

And another piece of information: the only possible way to run all those tests on my computer is because I am in an air conditioning room with my computer without the under lid over a table full holes with a big room fan blowing a strong cool wind to keep the system temperatures low. lol

Once again, thanks a lot for your help and hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks for your response.

Could you please tell me if it happens only while you boot up your system? If yes, it could be because our system starts and all the background apps and BIOS work.

Let me know.

Thanks!

Hi there, Nirvana_95!

It seems to be that.

When I restart the notebook plugged to a power source (battery connected to the MB or the power cord plugged in), the fans only spins for about 2 seconds before the “HP” logo is shown on the screen. A fraction of time before it appears, the fans stop and never is restarted again by the system no matter how hot it gets.

The only time that I see the fans working for a little while is when I do a hard reset and the system takes a while (about 10-15 seconds) to show the screen that I sent you last week.

Please, what can I do to try to solve this? Do you think it could be a Windows 11 issue? I had used it for 1,5 month with no further problems before this.

Once again, thanks for your time and help.

I appreciate it very much.

Best regards and a great week.
