HP Envy x360 14 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 14-fa-0000 (8Z8P5AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello, it's been a while now, but the fan on my HP Envy x360 14-inch 2-in-1 Laptop, specific version 14-fa-0000, won't stop buzzing. I've cleaned it out while it was in the computer, I took it out of my computer and cleaned it, but it still keeps buzzing. I then went searching for a replacement fan, but I literally could not find it on any official website. All I could find them on was Amazon ( with no stars, ratings, or reviews), AliExpress, and eBay. I don't trust any of these websites when it comes to something as important as this like, and if I can't find a solution for this problem, I might as well just buy a new computer. I don't have the money to constantly keep doing repairs, and I don't want to fall downa rabbit hole of possible fixes that might work. Hopefully, someone here has a solution.

Hi @Taurean4,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I can truly understand how frustrating and exhausting it must be to deal with a buzzing fan that just won’t quiet down, especially when you’ve already tried cleaning it inside and out. That persistent hum can feel like a constant reminder that something’s not quite right, and when reliable replacement parts seem elusive, it’s easy to feel stuck.

Let’s walk through this together, step by step.

Troubleshooting the Buzzing Fan on Your HP Envy x360 14-fa0000

HP recommends the following steps when dealing with noisy or constantly spinning fans:

  1. Update BIOS and Drivers
Outdated firmware can cause erratic fan behavior. Use the HP Support Assistant to automatically detect and install updates.

  2. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
This tool checks for fan failures and other hardware issues. You can download and run it from HP PC Hardware Diagnostics | HP® Support.

  3. Check for Background Processes
High CPU usage from apps or updates can cause the fan to run loudly. Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and check for any resource-heavy processes.

  4. Clean the Vents and Fan Again
You’ve already done this, but just in case: use compressed air gently through the vents while the laptop is off and unplugged. Avoid using a vacuum or touching the fan blades directly.

  5. Use HP Support Tools
Visit the official HP Envy x360 14-inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 14-fa0000 | HP® Support for tailored diagnostics and repair options.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
