HP Thunderbolt Dock G2 with Combo Cable
macOS 15.0 Sequoia

Hello,

I am using an HP Thunderbolt Dock G2 together with a 16" MacBook Pro Intel, and I was previously able to run two external displays in extended mode by connecting one monitor via the DisplayPort on the dock and another via the USB-C video port.

After a firmware update to version 1.0.71.1, it seems the dock’s port mapping has changed so that the DisplayPort ports and the USB-C video port share the same DisplayPort controller. This means I can now only use one of these as a separate video input, and the monitors mirror instead of extending.

This significantly limits the usability for Mac users who require multiple displays in extended mode, especially since macOS does not support MST for daisy-chained monitors.

I would therefore like to kindly request that HP provide an option or setting in the firmware that allows users to choose port mapping, so that separate video streams over both DisplayPort and the USB-C video port are possible, as was the case previously.

This would be a highly appreciated feature that would make the dock more flexible and appealing for Mac users with multiple external monitors.

Thank you for your time and consideration—I look forward to a positive response!

Best regards,

Ike
