Hi,

I installed Windows 11 as a fresh install on my 15-cn0007na.

I have used the HP driver assistant, but a number of devices are still not registering properly. This includes the fingerprint reader, which doesn't appear. There is no entry in Device Manager for any biometric devices. There are a number of generic HID-compliant devices under the Human Interface Devices subgroup, and a number of unknown PCI devices showing up under the "Other Devices" tab. I have found a driver for the fingerprint reader on the HP website and tried to install this, but this hasn't worked.

Could anyone help me troubleshoot this please?

I've attached a subset of the output from msinfo32.exe here.

Many thanks

Hi:

Install this driver first, and restart the PC:

Intel Chipset Installation Utility

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp101001-101500/sp101171.exe

Then install this driver:

Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework Driver

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp95001-95500/sp95216.exe

This driver will install the PCI Device:

Realtek Card Reader Driver

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp96001-96500/sp96384.exe

There is only a W10 fingerprint reader driver for your notebook:

Driver - HP ENVY x360 - 15-cn0007na | HP® Customer Support

Thanks Paul - the first two work.

The third (card reader) errors out as it says it isn't supported on the current OS version.

I've already come across the fingerprint reader driver you linked and unfortunately despite running it several times it's still not appearing.

Is there anything else I can try?

Thanks

You're very welcome.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to help you with why the fingerprint reader isn't working.

I have come across many posts from other forum members that have the same problem with several different model notebooks and the fingerprint reader not appearing in W11.

For the Realtek card reader, see if this newer driver from a different model notebook works.
