I obtained a gently used Z Book, the Firefly 15 G7, barely a year old. Near mint shape. Everything works great. The issue I'm having is with the battery... and I don't know if it's a battery issue or the way I'm managing the notebook.
At the moment I'm juggling two computers, an old Pavilion and this new Z Book. I'm taking my time on getting it configured I've already transferred a copy of my user files and now gradually installing all of the software I require. This has resulted in my unplugging the Z Book with a full charge, shutting it down, and then stowing it away... sometimes for a week or more.
What really surprises me is that when I go back to start the Z Book back up, the battery level is down considerably. More than 50% of the charge lost in just 1 week, sitting in a shut down state. Now when I did shut it down, I went to the menu and selected to shut down, instead of just pressing the power button. This is one of those newer laptop designs where there is no external power switch on the casing sides. It's nestled in the keyboard... which is a rather ingenious way to guard against accidentally turning it on. HOWEVER, I'm now wondering if this comes at a cost. In order for the keyboard to offer a power switch, that must mean it is being supplied with power... and therefore, even when you shut down the Z Book completely, it's really not off.
But could this "hot button" state for being able to turn on the laptop via a keyboard key cause significant parasitic drain whereby the laptop would run out of power in just 2 weeks? Is there a "deep state" off mode I can activate if I ever plan to have the laptop off for long periods, in order to minimize battery wear?

Thanks. My details are -- OS: Windows 11, Version: 22H2
Notebook: HP ZBook Firefly 15 G7 Mobile Workstation
Product #: 1Y5Y6UT#ABA
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10610U CPU @ 1.80GHz
BIOS: S73 Ver. 01.09.00 - 04/07/2022
Normally I would use Sleep when plugged in. When not, I'd expect Hibernation to happen (saves session cache in storage for faster restart). But in any case, if I've selected Shutdown from the menu, my presumption would be very minimal parasitic drain on the battery.
