Hello, I have a G10 Fury and the shift-level to open den backplane is stuck. It is stuck in the closed position. I cannot move it in any direction. What can I do ?

Had the same problem with exactly the same laptop, the solution was to use a suction cup (inspired by another solution) :

  1. Make sure the service door latch is in the fully closed position (as shown in the photo below).
  2. Press a suction cup against somewhere in the middle of service door, spot shown as red circle in the photo.
  3. Pull the suction cup up with light to moderate force and slowly slide the latch to the open position. Now you should be able to fully open the latch.
  4. Remove the service door by sliding it away from screen hinges.

I managed to get rid of the problem without it later recurring by sliding the door fully close, closing the latch completely and redoing the above steps cycle about 10 times. Maybe the latch mechanism is too stiff straight out of the factory, so doing that loosened it up?

This is the maximum, that I can shift the lever. Then it is stuck.

Any help is welcome.

Hey, thank you for your help 😍. I was able to open it with the dash cam holder. I checked the mechanism. It looked ok. Nothing is broken or bended. So, I closed it again. It closed  very easy without any restistance, but then it was stuck again. 😫

I opened it again with the dash cam holder. I decided to keep it open.

I still have warrenty. I'm not sure, if I can be fix this on warrenty.

Try to properly close and open with moderate speed and with the help of that dash cam holder the door multiple times (e.g., 20 times or until it starts to work properly). Maybe you can get rid of that stiffness for good like I did. Or if you want, keep the latch open so that you can see the whole screw hole, but so that it isn't fully opened  - somewhere around midway (keeps the door from accidentally sliding away).

And if the reopening/closing didn't work as permanent fix, then it can't hurt to use the warranty (I guess they could try another service cover unit).

Good luck!
