I'm restoring a G60-120US, and it needs a motherboard. Before I commit to buying one, I need to know the correct ID for the part.
Also, while I have several places to look for it, if anyone wants to pass along any advice, sources, instructions, or other relevant info, I would be grateful for it.
(Note: I have a personal reason for doing this. Don't bother telling me not to do it.)
Thanks for taking the time to read this post.

@Old_Rockin_Dave Welcome to HP Community!
I understand that you would like to change the motherboard.
In that case, I would suggets you contact our phone support and check for the support option. They will help you.
Or you can conatct the local service center for repair.
Here is how you can get in touch with phone support.
1)Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/
2)Select the product type.
3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.
4)Select the country from the drop-down.
5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.
We are experiencing longer than expected wait times to reach an agent due to the CoViD-19 impact and there might have been issues in you getting the expected resolution on the issue.
Keep us posted,

Thank you for your reply, Praveen.
Customer support is not worth my time. I've been there. The G60 line is retired. HP won't do sweet Fanny Adams about any inquiries regarding it. There are motherboards available in varying condition and at varying prices, but without the part number it's impossible to know which one will work. I don't want to order blindly. Taking it apart is out of the question. I could probably do it, but I'm not confident about it. I only want to strip and reassemble once. I was hoping that somebody here could either give me the answer or steer me towards it. Calling or chatting will just be a waste of time. The repair service won't help me either - if they can't get the part, I'm wasting my time and effort.
Incidentally, "We are experiencing longer than expected wait times to reach an agent due to the CoViD-19 impact..." is not a valid message. The pandemic is approaching its first birthday, so the call issues are now the new normal and should be met, Also, HP doesn't experience the longer wait times. The callers do. I realize you have nothing to do with that, but somebody somewhere, and not just at HP, needs to get the message.

Praveen, thank you once again for your reply.
Unfortunately, I seem to have come around in a circle. The 3 nearest service centers to me per your link are Micro Center stores. When the G60 first failed and I could neither diagnose or fix it, Micro Center is where I brought it. They returned it to me at no charge because the motherboard was unavailable as a new part. That's why I need the part number - so I can buy the best used motherboard I can find and make the repair myself, or have a local fix-it shop do it. I doubt that Micro Center's staff know the part number either. Most likely they simply checked and saw the line had been retired and stopped there. No major store is going to purchase, or let the customer bring in, a used motherboard or any other part to be installed, not even on a buyer-beware basis.
It's really such a simple request, yet it seems that no one can answer it. I have searched the 'net with 4 different search engines, tried HP customer support, and now tried this forum. Someone at HP must have access to a spec sheet or parts list. I'm not asking for the moon on a plate, just an email with a part number. What's so difficult about that?

I understand your concern and I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP.
They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number.
Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact.
Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).
