HP Pavillion HPE h8-1114
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a HP Pavillion HPE (h8-1114) that I got as a hand me down from my grandfather a year ago.  I saw this machine contains a dedicated GPU but after doing some research, the GPU is not ideal for me.  I was looking at upgrading my GPU from a NVIDIA GeForce 520 to a GeForce GTX 750 ti from a friend.  I did some reading and I found out that some GPU's are not compatible with this computers motherboard as they are BIOS locked.  This has something to do with the board using legacy BIOS or something.  I wanted to know if anyone could help me clarify if a GTX 750 ti would work in my PC.  I am well aware that I will need to upgrade the power supply to power the GPU.

@mDiP_990,

Thank you for posting your query on HP Community,

I did go through the Product specifications and found that your PC was shipped with NVIDIA GeForce GT 520.

After reviewing the  Motherboard specification which shows there is One PCI Express x16 (Gen2.0) slot available on your PC.

and Here's the specifications of the graphics card - https://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-750-ti/specifications

you should be able to go ahead and upgrade the graphics card only thing that you would need to check is the power supply.

Currently on your PC, you have Internal 300W (100V-240V) Form factor: Internal ATX

Disclaimer: HP Doesn't recommend any upgrade/downgrade of any hardware parts or software that is bundled with the product. It may affect the manufacturer's warranty and performance. You can change the configuration at your own risk

Hope this answers your question.

Good luck and keep me posted about the developments. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue and give the post a Kudos for my efforts to help. Thank you and have a great week ahead. 🙂
