Hi there, 

 

I've recently come across a problem with my Notebook Omen. I like to play games of all different styles. However, recently I've been playing Valheim and apex a lot. Everything runs smoothly as I start up my PC. However, after a good 10-15 min, everything goes to "**bleep**". My laptop starts frame dropping hard, doesn't matter the resolution of the game. I am already playing on the lowest settings and this still happens. I tried updating drivers and everything else I can think of. 

 

Does anyone know what could cause this problem? Anyone had similar problems and is familiar with it and solved it ? 

 

For those who need more information here are my specs

  • Processor Type: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8750H CPU @ 2.20GHz
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 with Max-Q Design
  • System Bios: F.05
  • Refresh Rate: 143
  • 32GB Memory Size: 16GB SK Hynix 2667MHz (x2)
    2x Maximum Memory Speed: 2667 MHz
  • SSD: 237
  • Storage: 1.80 T 

If anyone can help me. I would really appreciate it I am a bit helpless and my Laptop isn't even 2 years old yet and was quite costly when it came out.

A couple of possibilities:

 

1. Laptop running hot. Fans often degrade in their ability to move air as they age and that could be causing your system to throttle down for thermal control

2. A power supply that is not up to snuff might be causing power starvation and throttling as discussed above.

 

If you have a desktop fan you could try blowing air to see if that delays or eliminates the throttling. You can also run diagntostics to see if there are any problems that are identified.

I'll try lifting up the and giving the laptop some ground space. 

Do you think it is recommended to unscrew the laptop myself and see if i can perhaps clean the fans?
