Notebook 17-by0021dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I'm moving an SSD from a dead Pavilion M7-1015dx laptop to become the boot drive in a new 17-by0021dx laptop. Before I open up the latter, does it already have an unused cable running to the second drive bay, OR is the connector at the laptop end the same so that I can use a cable from the old Pavilion (its connector below).connector.jpg

Your notebook spec. HP 17 Laptop PC - Maintenance and Service Guide

If you notebook comes in single m.2 drive configuration, then it will not have sata cable in 2.5" drive bay. You will need L22526-001cable and perhaps L22534-001cover (page 23). You can find these on eBay.

You can compare the above cable to that pulled from M7-1015dx (Kit PN# 681976-001)

Aha -- thanks, Brian. It turns ouit there is just one drive bay, so I'll have to reconsider whether the laptop is worth the additional investment for a larger SSD than I have on hand.
