You're very welcome.
I've read several reports such as your regarding the 2.5" Samsung 870 and it not working in quite a few various model HP notebook and desktop PC's and it makes no sense to me.
It's a shame since the Samsung 870 has the best read/write specs on the market today.
I recommend the WD Blue SA510 M.2 SATA SSD instead.
A 1 TB drive should work fine whether or not you plan on retaining the 2.5" mechanical hard drive for storage.
The drive capacities listed in the manual are just what HP offered in the model series, not the maximum capacity supported.
If you are more comfortable replacing the mechanical hard drive, I would try the WD Blue SA510 2.5" model.
I've used this model on several HP and Dell notebook and desktop PC's.
Never had any compatibility issues with it.

You have two options:
1. You can replace the 2.5" mechanical hard drive and install a 2.5" SATA SDD.
2. Your notebook has a M.2 slot that supports M.2 SATA SSD's only, not NVMe.
You can retain the mechanical hard drive for extra storage, but you will have to remove Windows from the drive, or the notebook will always want to boot from the mechanical hard drive first and not the SSD.
