I was told that my laptop only supports 16gb of memoriam RAM in total, which seems strange to me, since this computer is almost last generation. I ran this command in the CMD “wmic memphysical get MaxCapacityEx” to verify if that was correct and I got the following: MaxCapacityEx 33554432. Which would mean that my laptop does support 32gb of RAM in total, but HP support told me that it only supports 16gb in total. I want to have 24gb of RAM in my laptop (8x1 + 16x1) but I don't know if I can add 16gb memory to it. Does anyone who has checked know which of the two options is true? This is my laptop:

Victus Gaming Laptop Computer 15-fb2002la (A14LLLA).

AMD Ryzen™ 5 8645HS

RTX 3050 6GB

RAM DDR5 8GB

The Crucial memory report for the model series indicates it will support 2 x 32 GB of memory.

HP HP Victus 15-fb2000 | Memory RAM & SSD Upgrades | Crucial.com

If the Windows report you ran indicates it will support 2 x 16 GB of memory, you can be reasonably confident that 2 x 16 GB of memory will work, or 16 GB + 8 GB.

Note that if you don't install memory in matching capacities in each memory slot, the memory will only run in single channel mode, not dual channel.

HP only has the service manual for the original model series available, but it should be of help to you for opening up the notebook to upgrade the memory.

It will be of no help for the memory specs/upgrade information.

This is the serial number of the laptop:

sorry for the inconvenience, but could you check it further? My budget is tight and I would not like to buy a 16gb memory and in the end not be able to use it, thanks in advance. 🙌

You're very welcome.

Checking your notebook's serial number will be of no help.

All that will do is to show you what memory HP installed in your notebook and that is in the parts list at the link below:

HP PartSurfer

N37792-001
SODIMM 8GB DDR5 5600 1.1v

There are several questions about memory upgrades in that model series on this forum but not one report of anyone actually having installed additional memory and indicating the results.

Thank you very much, I will buy the memory, I do not think that a computer with these characteristics is limited to 16gb. God bless you

You're very welcome.

I agree with you 100%.

God Bless you too, and please post back and let us know how the results of your notebook's memory upgrade project went.

You can download the Crucial Upgrade Selector Tool from their website. It will tell you the exact RAM size and suitable RAM for your system. They will also give offers (at least they did with me = and soon it will be BLACK FRIDAY offers!!).

The HP manual for my Notebook says 32GB RAM is the maximal, but the CRUCIAL APP says that it is usual for computer makers to set a lower amount. In fact, they (Crucial) say my Notebook system can actually run 64GB RAM with no issues.

Hope this helps

UPDATE

I put a 16gb Kingston RAM and it HAS ACCEPTED IT, now I have 8gb + 16gb of RAM, so far it has not presented any problem, but I find it strange that the manual says it only accepts 16gb of RAM, surely it is just a recommendation. Again I thank Paul for his contribution. I was afraid of damaging the laptop board, happily it has not happened 😅.

Anytime.

Glad to have been of assistance.

That's great news you have proven that 32 GB of memory will work in the model series, so thanks for letting us know.

Cheers,

Paul
