Pavilion 14-bk063sa
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi. I have a pavilion 14-bk063sa.

My battery is not charging to it's full extent. It's only going to 40-60% before saying "Not Charging." I have unplugged and replugged the battery from the inside, and there has been no difference at all. Please help. I don't want to pay the £50 for a new battery. It's only been used for about 1yr 4 months.

@IshanN,

Thanks for engaging in HP support Forums! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips!

I see from your post that you're having issues with the battery not charging completely to 100%. Don't worry we'll work together to help you find a solution.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

What Is the product number of the notebook? Use this link to find it:  https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03754824  (Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...).

Have you recently made any software or hardware changes on the PC before the issue started?

Does the laptop shutdown right away if the charger is disconnected from the laptop?

Have you tried to use a different compatible charger and check if it helps?

Have you tried to uninstall the battery drivers from device manager.

Did you try to update the Bios on your PC.

In the meantime, let's try these steps here:

Unplug the charge and use the laptop until the battery drains to 15%.

Turn off the laptop and turn it back on after 30mins.

Reinstalled Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery under device manager,

Restart the computer and the issue should be fixed.

Also, Go through them all and let me know what you have determined is causing the issue.

The first document has the most relevant troubleshooting if your battery appears to be not charging.

Battery Does not Power Notebook or Hold a Charge

Next thing, I would suggest here is to update the BIOS and the Chipset drivers to the latest version using the Official HP website for drivers and downloads: Click here to find it.

Also, download and install HP support assistant on your PC. It should automatically download and install the latest updates and drivers for your PC.

Refer this link to know how to use HP support assistant.

Run a battery test using F2 (during restart), if the test failed:

Check with an alternate battery.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Keep me posted,

If the information I've provided was helpful,

give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Good Luck.

Also, when I click f2 on boot, it only comes up with memory test and storage or something like that, no battery tests anywhere. I have now updated my bios, no change.

@IshanN,

Thank you for replying,

In this scenario, I would suggest here is to go ahead and download and install the latest version of Hardware diagnostics.

Click here to download and install.

Once done, run the test and let me know the results.

Take care now and do have a fabulous week ahead. 🙂

As I see you've performed the hardware test and it resulted with the failure ID which is 6BV73H-8QA9GM-MFPURG-C0FR13

Here's what the ID represents:  601

Error message: Battery 1

This clearly indicates that the battery on the laptop is faulty and it needs a replacement.

I did go through the Product specification and found that your PC was shipped with 3-cell, 41 Wh Li-ion Battery.

For the spare part number, I would suggest you go  through the Maintenance and Service guide of your notebook.

Chapter 3 Illustrated parts catalog --- Computer major components -- page number 17

Battery (4 cell, 70 Wh, 4.55 Ah) 920070-855

Now the parts listed here are the ones which are tested and compatible on your PC.  If you wish you can try other parts at your own discretion. However,  HP Doesn't recommend any upgrade/downgrade of any hardware parts or software that is bundled with the product. It may affect the manufacturer's warranty and performance.

Alternatively, You could replace the part on your own, use the HP Parts surfer to identify the part: Click here & order it via the HP Parts store (Click here).

Or alternatively, Contact HP for setting up an order/service via phone support.

HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: www.hp.com/contacthp

They will be happy to assist you immediately.

If the unit is under warranty repair services under the manufacturer's warranty will be free of charge.

@IshanN,

It's great to have you back and your patience is greatly appreciated.

In this scenario, I would suggest you can go through the part which support 4 cell, and here's the part number.

Battery (4 cell, 70 Wh, 4.55 Ah) 920070-855

Please note this part number is universal, If you're not able find the part number on our HP Part store, you can always tried to check online through eBay or Amazon.

I hope this answers your question. Let me know if you need any further assistance.
