Welcome to HP Forums,
This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,
Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂
I see you need help in system memory-ram, on HP Notebook - 15-db0040nq. Don't worry as I have a few suggestions which should help you.
After reading your post, I did go through the Product specifications of your product and found that you have 4 GB DDR4-2400 SDRAM (1 x 4 GB) installed on the PC.
Next thing, I would suggest here is to go through the Maintenance and Service guide of your HP notebook, and found that your PC supports single memory module slots: (Memory is non-customer accessible/non-upgradeable)
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
If I have helped you resolve the issue, feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon below,

I I'm even more confused now is the ram sodimm. I'm looking at the Maintenance and Service guide and this is what it says about ryzen processor based systems of the series
Two memory module slots (Ryzen, A9 processors):
Memory is non-customer accessible/non-upgradeable
DDR4-2400 dual channel support (Ryzen processors)
DDR4-1866 dual channel support (A9 processors)
Supports up to 16 GB of system RAM in the following conƭgurations
● 16384 MB (8192 MB×2)
● 12288 MB (8192 MB×1 + 4096 MB×1)
● 8192 MB (8192 MB×1 + 4096×2)
● 4096 MB (4096 MB×1)
Does this mean that I have two sodimm slots in the machine and does it have a m.2 sloth
And if I put another 4 gb stick of compatible sodimm RAM will I have to dual channel
you're being super cryptic please help

Thank you for posting back.
To get the answer to this question, A memory module is a circuit board that contains DRAM integrated circuits that are installed into the memory slot on a computer motherboard.
On this computer 4 GB, DDR4-2400 SDRAM (1 x 4 GB) installed and it's not upgradeable.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
