I have a user who got an Asus ZenScreen and tried to use a USB-C to USB-C connection to make the connection between laptop and display but the screen would not show up on the ZenScreen (it's blank). The user then tried using USB-C to HDMI on the laptop but the still did not work. The user using a docking station, this still did not work.

Can anyone suggest why the screen will not work with this HP 15-ef1xxx laptop?

Thanks.

The HP 15-ef1xxx  has following ports

  • HP Smart Pin AC adapter
  • Audio-out (headphone)/Audio-in (microphone) combo jack
  • High-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) v.1.4b supporting up to 1920 × 1080 at 60 Hz
  • Hot plug/unplug and autodetect for correct output to wide-aspect vs. standard aspect video (auto adjust panel resolution to fit embedded panel and external monitor connected)
  • (2) USB 3.1 Type A ports
  • (1) USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C port (supports data transfer)

Its USB-C port does NOT support Alt mode therefore you can NOT connect it to an external USB-C monitor using dock/without dock

Regards.
