Have a HP 15s-eq1000 laptop. Wanted to hookup dual monitors to laptop. Contacted HP yesterday, sold me the HP USB-C dock G5 said it was compatible. Hooked it up this morning and it's not working. What am I doing wrong?

What is your HP 15s-eq1000 machine ? For example
Your machine should have same ports as the above machine. It only has 1 SuperSpeed USB Type-C® 5Gbps signaling rate port that means the HP USB-C G5 is useless for your machine. Please return it and get your money back.
It ONLY has 1 SuperSpeed USB Type-C® 5Gbps signaling rate port which does NOT support Alt mode nor Power Delivery. You can NOT use it to
- Charge your machine,
- Connect to an external monitor with/without hub/dock/adapter
If you wish to connect 2 external monitors (only), you can use
- Monitor 1: HDMI direct cable,
- Monitor 2: Using a Displaylink Certified USB-A to HDMI adapter such as
For more connectivity, please use
True Universal Docking Stations
