HP Recommended

Hello,

I am having issues with underperformance on my HP laptop. I have run multiple hardware diagnostics, and I am finding that the machine is not performing to the manufacturer specifications.

Everything is up to date, drivers, BIOS etc. If you guys tell me to update software I will flip out.

I am using "Performance" profiles across all applicable menus, while plugged into AC power. I find that the HP app's performance setting is very much not a performance setting; the fans will kick on less than in Smart Sense, which I find lowers overall CPU performance by a very significant margin. The CPU is constantly thermal throttling in HP's "Performance" preset and the fans do not want to actually turn on and stay off most of the time. I would very much appreciate a way to modify this fan curve to be more aggressive.

Additionally, the Nvidia RTX 4050 in this machine is supposed to be able to run up to 55W sustained, I am seeing around a 45W average instead in the Performance preset, and much lower (around 25~30W) if I decide to use the Smart Sense preset, which has a better fan profile but appears to power limit the GPU much more aggressively. There is an appreciable drop in overall performance due to this discrepancy between the advertised performance.

I would like for my machine to perform as advertised.
