I want to upgrade the current Realtek RTL8822CE 802.11ac (2x2) multi-user MIMO supported and Bluetooth® 5 to an adapter that supports Wi-fi 6. Has anyone attempted this and if so which adapter should I use?

According to the product specs, the following model Wi-Fi cards were offered in the model series:

HP 17 Laptop PC 17-cp2000 series specifications | HP® Support

  • Realtek Wi-Fi 6 (2x2) and Bluetooth® 5.3 combo (supporting gigabit data rate)

  • Realtek RTL8822CE 802.11ac (2x2) multi-user MIMO supported and Bluetooth® 5

  • Realtek RTL8821CE-M 802.11ac (1x1) multi-user MIMO supported and Bluetooth® 4.2

The first card listed would be the upgrade from the RTL8822CE Wi-Fi adapter:

M91238-005
SKO-WLAN Realtek CAVA2 ax 2x2

That is the RTL8852BE model.

You want to find and buy a card that references the HP M91238-005 part number.

Below is the link to the service manual:

This parts list for a similar model 17-cp2000 shows it came with that model card/part number:
