Hey Guys ! I own a HP 2000-2120 TU notebook Laptop and it's been two days it's not opening and caps lock key is showing blink code of 2 and no display ....
I have tried following cases :-
- Tried built-in key combinations for BIOS recovery i.e Win + B ,V and B, V, Win key standalone alone also. (NOT WORKED)
- Tried searching for the blink code i.e 2 and it showed BIOS corruption issue.
- Tried searching for drivers / BIOS update utility but found only one driver named sp66781.exe but it was not the USB drive Flashing utility.
- Tried uninstalling and reinstall of Ram also (Didn't worked.)
Please can someone help me with a HP BIOS UTILITY FILE for the same model cuz it's the only way I have now and don't have budget for a new laptop any sooner.

HI @Shre1124,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It looks like your HP 2000-2120 TU is experiencing a BIOS corruption issue, as indicated by the blink code and lack of display. Since the built-in recovery methods and other troubleshooting steps haven’t worked, you might need to manually recover or reflash the BIOS. Here’s a structured approach to resolve the issue:
1. Identify the Correct BIOS File
For HP laptops, BIOS recovery typically involves a specific BIOS file. You’ll need to find the correct version for your exact model. Follow these steps:
- Go to HP Support.
- Enter “HP 2000-2120 TU” in the search bar to find support articles and drivers related to your laptop.
- Look for the BIOS update section. You might find the BIOS update utility or a BIOS file you can use for recovery. If available, download it.
2. Create a BIOS Recovery USB Drive
You’ll need a USB drive to perform the BIOS recovery. Follow these steps to create a recovery USB:
- Use a blank USB drive with at least 1GB of space.
- Format it to FAT32. This is usually done through your computer's file explorer.
- Once you have the BIOS file (it should be in a .bin or .fd format), copy it to the root directory of the USB drive.
- If the file name is long or contains special characters, try renaming it to something short and simple, like BIOS.FD or HPBIOS.FD.
3. Attempt BIOS Recovery
With the BIOS recovery USB prepared, follow these steps to attempt recovery:
- Plug the USB drive into the laptop.
- Power off the laptop completely.
- Power it on while pressing Win + B or Win + V. Hold these keys until the laptop starts and hopefully begins the BIOS recovery process.
4. Alternative Recovery Methods
If the above steps don’t work, consider the following:
- Sometimes, Win + B or Win + V might not work as expected. Try other combinations like Win + Esc or Fn + B.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

@Rachel571
I have searched for BIOS driver or utility in HP website and found a file named sp66781.exe I think it's a driver not a utility file so , Should I directly copy and paste it on the root directory of my USB drive?
And one more thing I have Windows 10 currently installed on the PC and there was no option for Windows 10 so , went in for Windows 7 and found this file . Should I go for this ?

Hey , actually I can't find the private message buttons over there on the top but here's the serial number of my Laptop
SERIAL NUMBER: 5CB2245KXQ
PRODUCT NUMBER : B9K59PA#ACJ
Elaborated Explanation:
Actually my Laptop switched off one day suddenly and then it was not opening when I tried to open it it showed the capslock blinking code of 2 blinks that points towards BIOS corruption, so I was finding for the BIOS update utility which can be flashed on USB and then can be used to recover it .
Can I directly copy and paste that sp66781.exe file directly to the root directory of the pendrive that I am going to use for the recovery of the BIOS?
