After upgrading an HP 2000's motherboard (to replace AMD E-300 with Intel i5-3230M), I'm getting the error below. When updating the board's data, should I use the original AMD-based product's name, serial number, and number? Or do I need to find (or have HP generate) data that matches the new Intel motherboard?

Hi, @drewwesley
You will have to take the notebook to an authorized HP repair facility in your location and have the motherboard tattooed with the applicable information.
They use a proprietary HP DMI tool for doing that.
I recommend you use the same product name, product number and serial number from your notebook's case because there would be no way to determine what other info you could have inputted.

When I scanned my area for local authorized HP repair facilities, all that turned up was uBreakiFix centers, and I question their ability to address this particular issue. Don't these centers primarily fix broken cellphone screens and replace batteries?
Before I'm judged for even attempting an AMD-Intel mobo swap here, consider these two things:
1) An AMD E-300 chip with only a single-memory controller is very weak in 2022, especially when compared to the i5-3230M.

2) The upgraded hardware fundamentally works. The issue I'm trying to remedy is 'nag' more than anything.
Thanks for the responses thus far.

You're very welcome.

If you can't find one where you can take the notebook to that is not unreasonably far, you will probably have to live with the inconvenience.
