W4M62EA#BED
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello all,

I have HP 250 G5 with Celeron N3060, 8 GB DDR3 and 1TB HDD without SSD  (product W4M62EA#BED ) on Windows 10 Pro 22H2 (64-bit) and when I want to use couple applications simultaneously (for example record Teams meetings or something like that) I stuck with 100% CPU usage. Actually I got 100% CPU usage very often no matter what I'm doing, but when doing some more demanding operations I get "not responding" window with 100% CPU usage and Windows hangs until I terminate processes via Task manager. I have done all the optimization and tuning of Windows 10 that could be done - removed all unnecessary startup applications, removed all unnecessary windows services, disk defragmation, Microsoft defender optimization etc... After all these operations I guess that my Celeron N3060 is too weak for Windows 10 demands...

My first question is would upgrading from Celeron N3060 to i5 7200u CPU and 8GB DDR4 RAM give me some better results in Window 10 and above mentioned situations - using simultaneously couple demanding applications?

Second question is could I install physically mainboard Csl50/csl52 la-e801p (replace my current with this one) in my HP 250 G5 laptop and is this mainboard compatible with other G5 components and finally I wonder if that mainboard will work in that laptop?

Third and last question is what video card does csl50/csl52 la-e801p mainboard have? Is it some AMD integrated graphics or mainboard just uses Intel HD 620 graphics of i5 CPU?

Kind regards!

Hi:

It would not be worth the expense to replace the motherboard in your notebook for one that comes with an i5 processor.

Not only that, but since your notebook has no fan, you would have to buy a fan and different heat sink to support the hotter running core processor.

You can only install one of the supported motherboards that are listed in chapter 3 of your notebook's service manual.

HP Notebook PC (Intel) * Models: 15-ay000 – 15-ay099 * Models: 15-ay100 – 15-ay199HP 250 G5 Notebook...

Sell or trade in your notebook for new or refurbished notebook that comes with a better processor and graphics adapter.

Hello,

I know the best solution is to sell my current laptop and buy newer one, but at the moment I don't want to waste time to sell current laptop and look for another new one and waste too much money. At hte moment I have very cheap offer about 40$ to get csl50/csl52 la-e801p mainboard with all cables, heat sink and fan that goes originally with that laptop and mainboard. Also I could sell my mainboard about 20$ and if I could get anything better performances for 20$ difference I won't hesitate to purchase that mainboard and i5 cpu. My question still goes - could I install that csl50 /csl52 la-e801p mainboard in my G5 laptop and will it work?

P. S. The link with service manual you sent me isn't working.

Hi:

The motherboard description you posted is for a completely different model series of a newer HP consumer class notebook--the 15-bs0xx model series, and would not work in the 250 G5 model series or the 15-ay0xx model series which is the consumer class notebook equivalent of yours.

The above link to the 250 G5 service manual that I posted works fine for me.

Since the file size was small enough for me to attach, I have attached it below.

Once again, you would need to find one of the motherboard part numbers listed in chapter 3 of the service manual as well as the fan and heatsink for your notebook's model series.

Please correction - in the meantime I've succeeded to download the service manual from the above link and also find the exact product numbers on the sticker of the CSL50/CSL52 LA-E801P mainboard I wish to buy.

On the mainboard's sticker says: MO:47652455 and SPS: 925247-001

In the service manual I couldn't find any of these numbers. Once again just to be sure, you are apsolutely sure that this CSL50/CSL52 LA-E801P won't work in my G5 laptop?

And you want to say that there is mainboard with i5 7200U/7500U cpu that could be installed in my G5 laptop but it has different spare part number from this one CSL50/CSL52 LA-E801P?  If it is so could you please tell me what's model number (not the spare part number of that mainboard like CSLxxxx) of the mainboard with i5 CPU that will work in my G5 laptop?

Cheers!

Hi:

I am 99.9% sure that motherboard won't fit.

Not one of the USA eBay listings indicate that part can be used in a 250 G5 or 15-ay0xx notebook.

CSL50/CSL52 LA-E801P for sale | eBay

The listings all reference the 15-bs0xx model series for which I have posted the link to the service manual below.

I don't even see that SPS number listed in chapter 3 of the below manual, so it may have be a newer part not listed in the manual.

The part does not show up in either the HP Partsurfer website or the HP parts store.

OK. Thanks. It seems what ever spare part number that csl50/csl52 la-e801p has it couldn't be installed in my G5 laptop. Could you please tell me is there a mainboard with i5 7200U/7500U cpu that could be installed in my G5 laptop but it has different spare part number from this one CSL50/CSL52 LA-E801P model? If it is so what's the model number (not the spare part number of that mainboard like CSLxx) of the mainboard with i5 CPU that will work in my G5 laptop?

You're very welcome.

Looking at the service manual for your notebook, you can select from these boards and part numbers for notebooks without a touch screen.

These have the AMD/Intel switchable graphics.

● Intel Core i5-7200U processor and 4 GB of discrete graphics memory (R7M1-70)       903789-601
● Intel Core i5-7200U processor and 4 GB of discrete graphics memory (R5M1-30)       903790-601
● Intel Core i5-7200U processor and 2 GB of discrete graphics memory (R5M1-30)       903791-601

This one has the onboard Intel graphics only.

Intel Core i5-7200U processor     903792-001

Fan      813946-001

Heat sink for the boards with the switchable graphics:

For use in models with discrete graphics memory and 7th generation Intel processors     903806-001

Heat sink for boards with the onboard Intel graphics only:

For use in models with UMA graphics memory and 7th generation Intel processors     903807-001

You may be better off buying a used 250 G6 with the processor you want on eBay as long as you can get one in nice condition without a BIOS password.
