HP 250 G6
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi there, I bought an additional 8GB RAM for my HP 250 G6 laptop to give 16GB in total. I've added it in but neither Windows or the BIOS is picking it up. I've confirmed the RAM works fine because I've swapped out the old one for new one. I've tried them in both slot configurations but it doesn't seem to help. I tried just using the second slot and it failed to boot, but maybe that is normal. I've also tried updating BIOS in case that was an issue. Does anyone have any ideas what I can do?

Thank you!

This is a somewhat rare but known motherboard failure. If the 2d slot were good the system would boot with a good stick of RAM in it only. Post back with any more questions. Under warranty?

Thanks for reply, good to hear it's not just me! Hmmm not sure, I purchased it November 2017. I only did the upgrade now as didn't want to void my warrenty taking it apart. Surely a motherboard shouldn't fail after just 1 year? Do you think HP can doing anything to help?

Thanks

I can't speak for HP but you should try to make a warranty claim. Seems you are a couple months out of warranty
