Hi there!
I would like to know if it's possible to use empty ODD (Optical disk Drive) slot for any type of HDD even better SSD?
Thank you for your time

I did it with two 250 G7 I have. The first one was fitted with an old HDD by Samsung. Intel Optane Memory and Storage Management app shows that it runs with Sata II 3 GB/s as I wrote in my thread here https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/HP-250-G7-RAM-upgrade/td-p/850.... What's interesting, is that when I installed the same DVD caddy with Samsung Evo 870 SSD 2TB into the second 250 G7, this app shows that it runs with Sata III 6 GB/s. I also run Performance Benchmark in Samsung Magician and it shows read and write rate above 500 Mb/s. So, replacing DVD with SSD is easier than buying extra parts and disassemblying the laptop to install it and provides the same rate.
