Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

So one of our laptops that just went out of warranty in May 2016 was running slow. So I ran HP built in diagnostics and it found that the hard drive had failed so i started stripping it down, and found out that there was no fan installed. This can't be normal. There is a spot for the fan, but no fan. This could have caused the hard drive error! How do I contact HP about this if it is not normal.

Hi,

Sounds like your machine has one of the following processor

Intel® Celeron® N2840 (2.16GHz, turbo up to 2.58GHz, 1 MB L2 cache, 2 cores)
Intel® Celeron® N2830 (1.83GHz, turbo up to 2.41GHz, 1 MB L2 cache, 2 cores)
Intel® Celeron® N2815 (1.86GHz, turbo up to 2.13GHz, 1 MB L2 cache, 2 cores)

Those are low wattage processors and those machines are fanless (no fan). That is normal for this series.

Regards.

Try removing the battery and then put it back in and see if it boots then.
