HP ProBook 465 16 inch G11 Notebook PC (901H4AV)

I have a problem installing the "HP 4G LTE-A Pro Cat16 WWAN" Module into a "HP ProBook 465 16 Zoll G11".

It does not fit into the WWAN Slot on the Notebook. The Key of the Module is on the right side, the slot on the notebook is on the left side. The module also can´t be inserted top-down, as it is to thick.

It should be compatible. https://support.hp.com/ch-de/product/details/wireless/2102639642

What can i do to install the module in this slot?

I know that there is no sim-card-slot, i would use esim only.

And i know there are no antennas preinstalled. I have bought 2x "MHF4 / IPX Laptop /Embedded Antenna" which fit perfectly to the module.

Thank you. Your picture shows the matching slot, with the notch at the right side. I already seen this pic bevore i ordered the WWAN module. Then i was very confused as i opened the Notebook to install it. 🙂 Mine has the notch at the left side. I think it is M.2 M-Key at the board, and the WWAN module is M.2 B-Key. Am i right? So i need an adapter to test if it works anyway.

You can use WWAN modules on page 2 of the following manual

Thank you for your reply. I think this is the wrong manual? Can´t find anything concerning WWAN.

Hi Alex123415.

Here is the correct manual for the 465 G11 Notebook. The Quickspecs PDF offers a bit more info on the subject:

WWAN devices on HP laptops can be a bit tricky -I'm not sure you can retrofit a 4G module and have it work correctly. But the real problem you are facing is on another page, the storage section:

Although this page doesn't explicitly mention it, the same slot is used for the wwan module OR for a second ssd. You can see the markings "WWAN/2nd SSD" on this picture of the motherboard (from the Laptopmedia review).

This issue first appeared on the G9 Business laptops, and you should carefully read this discussion (it should clear things up a bit): https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Second-ssd-drive-on-elitebook-...

Laptopmedia reviewed a model that coincidentally had a motherboard that could house a wwan model. You bought the model that can have a second SSD installed. An adapter -in the unlikely chance you are able to find one- will hit a solid brick (if not steel) wall called motherboard design/BIOS setup. That older discussion I posted the link to shows that you cannot force-install devices on the PCIe slots when they are meant for other uses.....

Thank you very much for clarification. I might have misunderstood this fact, as my english is not perfect.

So i just ordered a mobile 5G/4G router to fix the issue. The WWAN module can sleep in a drawer until i find a purpose of use.

Sadly HP is not very clear in describing upgrade options in a simple way. I think i´m not the only one who was fooled by the description of compatibility for this module.
