HP ProBook 4530s Notebook PC

Hello,

I want to upgrade the RAM in my laptop.  The laptop supports max. 8 GB ram.  They write everywhere but 2 x 4GB.  Can I also use the 1x 8gb option (in one slot)  Won't be a problem?

Thanks

Hi:

2 x 4 GB would run better than 1 x 8 GB because 2 x 4 GB runs in dual channel mode and 1 x 8 GB runs in the lower performing single channel mode.

The service manual indicates 2 x 4 GB is supported and no mention of 1 x 8 GB being supported.

If your notebook already has 4 GB of memory installed in one slot, it makes more sense to install a less expensive 4 GB memory chip and have 8 GB of memory running in dual channel mode.

You're very welcome.

2 x 4 GB of memory runs better than 1 x 8 GB of memory and I have already provided information that if you install more than 8 GB of memory, your notebook will not run right.

If you want to install a single 8 GB memory chip, of course that is your privilege.
