Hi! (First of all I'm not sure if this is a hardware or Software problem since I've never had to deal with it before... So I posted it in both things.)
Windows 10 did an Update on my Laptop, Which I Have a HP EliiteBook 8470P Notebook PC earlier today. (November 2) and After I got a message saying " HP Accelerometer is not working on my computer's version of Windows. An update maybe be avabile." When I clicked "learn More" it told me my App was blocked, and so I googled how to "Fix" this problem and I followed the instuctions that someone from the HP Message board gave to someone else who had the same problem as I did they said to uninstall restart and reinstall following a link they posted. SO I uninstalled it, restarted my PC and Clicked the link to reinstall it and Im getting the message "The System can not find the patch specified." so I went to Device Managor to try to update it that way way because I saw a yellow (!) next to HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor and it says "
The driver for this device has been blocked from starting because it is known to have problems with Windows. Contact the hardware vendor for a new driver. (Code 48)
Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available." In the Device Status box.
Is the HP Accelerometer something I really need to keep my PC working, and Functioning or can I do without it? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

>>> HP Accelerometer something I really need to keep my PC working,
It is part of the software to protect HDD of your machine. When HDD spins, its head has to move around, any shock can cause damages for the head and platter whic can cause data loss/corrupted that why HP installs a sensor (hardware) to check all dimensions (called 3D) and software to stop head movements when sensor detects something, such as a fall.
Not all HP laptops have this facility. Back to your question, my answer is PC can run without this hardware and software but enything which can prevent data loss is good.
Please try to install newer version:
(a) Uninstall HP 3D DriveGuard from Device Manager,
(b) Reboot your machine,
(c) Download and install
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp81501-82000/sp81920.exe
(d) Restart your machine.
Regards.
Ps: Sorry my English is not good to explain the techology.
