Hi @James_P

Welcome to HP Forums. This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

I understand that the USB receiver got disabled after a recent update.

I'd like to help.

Since you know which update is causing the problem, you can follow these instructions to prevent the unwanted update from being installed:

  1. Type “View Installed Updates” in the Search box and then click on View Installed Updates – Control Panel from the Search results.
  2. To uninstall the unwanted update, select it from the list and then click Uninstall.

To temporarily prevent the update from being reinstalled until an updated fix is available, a troubleshooter is available that provides a user interface for hiding and showing Windows Updates and drivers for Windows 10. You can obtain and run the "Show or hide updates" troubleshooter by downloading it from the Microsoft Download Center:

Download Download the "Show or hide updates" troubleshooter package now.

Microsoft scanned this file for viruses. Microsoft used the most current virus-detection software that was available on the date that the file was posted. The file is stored on security-enhanced servers that help prevent any unauthorized changes to the file.

When you click on the download link, you will be prompted to open or save wushowhide.diagcab.

Opening wushowhide.diagcab will launch the troubleshooter. Then click Next to proceed and follow the instructions provided by the troubleshooter to hide the problematic driver or update.

Keep me posted how it goes.

Thank you. 🙂

The problem on this update, is it showed up in installed updates as a Driver. When you select to uninstall updates, it is not in the list to select.

I have downloaded the Microsoft Show and Hide apps.

If I could find a way to uninstall, then I can select it to hide.

Any Suggestion..

This has caused a lot of issues. My sound/audio driver worked fine til this installed/updated on my computer. Now I get crackling/popping doing different things on my computer. I tried a couple different drivers ,but the speakers doesn't work. I have to use the drivers that recommended, then  I'm stuck with this crackling/popping mess. Here's the thread I started https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Audio/Lost-my-Bang-amp-Olufsen-panel-settings-after-installin...
