Hello All,
I was hoping the group could help me with a problem with my 2018 HP ENVY 13 (ah0051wm). After a year of using the Type C connector for external monitors (via dock) and for a connected USB Hub (although TYPE-C charging never worked), the USB TYPE-C port suddenly stopped working altogether. UEFI diagnostics states "Thunderbolt devices using the Type-C port configuration are not currently supported" and "USB Type-C port on the graphics card is not currently supported" (although I ran two external monitors via the Type -C port previously). I tried holding the power switch on for 30 secs, and resetting; reinstalling USB drivers; checking all windows updates and BIOS options; unchecking power management boxes relating to USB devices; all with no success. There was a Windows update that ran earlier this month; and since the laptop is not always connected to the external monitors, that update may be related to the problem; but, not sure.
Thanks to everyone for your time and expertise. I love this little laptop; but, with limited ports, losing the TYPE-C port is significant. Thanks much, stay well everyone. ~Bill

Hi, thanks for your help. Using a couple 24" Dell monitors run through a Dell docking station model D6000 that used to work through the USB Type C connector from the docking station to the USB Type C port on the HP ENVY 13. I do not continually use the external monitors with the notebook. When I recently went to connect with the docking station and found the Type C port was not working, I used the adaptor that came with the Dell docking station that converts its Type C connector into a regular USB-A connector and plugged it into the USB 3.0 Type-A connector on the notebook and have been using the external monitors in that manner. I'd like to get the Type C port working again not only for the monitors and to free up the Type A port for other peripherals; but, also so I can use the USB /HDMI /Ethernet travel hub that connects via Type C port. Being able to finally charge the notebook through the Type C port would also be a bonus; but, it was never able to do that from the start, although I've seen virtually identical HP ENVY 13 notebooks that do accept Type C charging even though they also come with the usual barrel connector receptacle and wall charger. Hope this extra info is helpful and thanks again. ~Bill
