Hello and good evening,
I need help again!
Today, my laptop, HP ENVY 17-ce1135ng, gets the message to change the CMOS-battery.
Do you know, which one it is (only a battery or with cables or ...)? And then, where I can get it? I've looked on the HP-websites, the shop, where I bought it, and so on - but nothing...
Please help me!
Best regards
Claudia

Hi, Claudia:
You can download the service manual for the model series from this site at the link below.
HP ENVY 17-ce0000 | Maintenance and Service Guide
According to the parts list in chapter 3 and the removal and replacement procedures in chapter 5, there is no CMOS/RTC battery.
The main internal battery also serves as the CMOS battery to maintain the BIOS and system clock settings.
You may have to replace the main battery to resolve the problem.

Hello Paul,
I replaced the battery. And..., perfect! 🙂 Thank you very much Paul!!!
The battery was so broken - that it didn't burn, was a wunder!
My touchpad has its function after a loooong time again. 🙂
Now the only problem is the lights of the keyboard - they are off and I can't activate them. I thought, the problem was the battery too, but obvously not. (Therefor I need another thread!)
Best regards and thanks
Claudia

Anytime, Claudia.
Glad to have been of assistance, and I am very happy to know that installing a new battery fixed the problem and then some.
From what you wrote, it sounds to me like the battery was very swollen and was beginning to cause damage to the internal components of the notebook.
Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to help you with fixing the keyboard backlight but I wonder if there as any damage done to the keyboard cable by the swollen battery?
Hopefully, someone will be able to help you fix the keyboard backlight problem.
Cheers,
Paul
