I have an HP Envy Touchsmart 17t-j100 quad edition CTO. I bought it factory refurbished in 2014 and registered it in May 2014. My left hinge has also come loose and I hear rattling inside. I only use it carefully at home, about once per month, and am very disappointed. I see many have this problem. Please let me know what HP is willing to do to help me. Thank you

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).
If you are unfamiliar with how the Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

I understand the difficulty with the problem. As its a hardware related issue, I would request you to contact our Support and our Support Engineers should be able to check the available service options for your laptop.
- In meantime, you can connect the laptop to an external monitor or tv in order to back up your files and data.
HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link:

- Select the product type.
- Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.
- Select the country from the drop-down.
- You should see the HP support number or Chat option listed
Please feel free to contact us here anytime you need any further assistance. Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.

Thank you but I see no option for chat or phone contact. My laptop is listed with serial number etc.. I need to talk to someone about this problem since there are many others with similar concerns about the hinge issue.

I was offered a $50 gift card which at least was a gesture of acknowledgement that this is a common issue. But since it has been out of warranty since 2014, that seems to be as far as they will go. I'm researching fixes on YouTube but may need do spring for a significant repair bill if I cant do it.
