So far, this has been my favorite laptop and I would like to continue to use it, if only I could get the hinges and the case fixed. It is so bad now that It will not open fully anymore, it's currently unusable. To my knowledge it has not been dropped or mistreated in any way. It simply became difficult to open one day, like it was stuck and the problem got worse each time. Please let me know if this is still a fixable issue? I realize it's getting old but it was still working well for me until this case and hinge problem happened. I would love to be able to continue using this wonderful laptop. Thank you in advance for any help or advice you may have for this problem.

It needs to be disassembled and checked for internal damage. For certain, it needs the hinges replaced.

If the mounting points for the hinges are still solid, you can get by just replacing the hinges. Otherwise you need one or more large chassis parts, but on a laptop this old they are not too expensive if you look a bit. I've done this repair a few times so let me know if I can help any more and please accept as solution if this is the info you needed.
