I have 2 HP ENVY m6-k010dx Sleekbook laptops, purchased on the same day. Both have batteries that are swollen so badly that they have a large buldge under the keyboard and have started to pop the trackpads out. I called the HP number for the battery recall, but was told this product was not covered. I was also told the computer was SAFE to use!!!! Being a 25+ yr software developer, I knew that was false, and a little concerning. I was also offered the opportunity to buy a new battery, even though I told the agent that the computer will power on but no longer boot (most likely the battery has messed up other components). Now I am stuck with two useless laptops, that I am not even comfortable dissasembling due to the battery looking like it could go at any time. In all the years I have been doing this, I have never seen this happen before. Does anyone have any idea on what to do next? Seems crazy to me I have two doorstops...

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).
If you are unfamiliar with how the Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

I had the same issue with mine. However, I removed the battery before it caused any internal damage. I couldn't use my laptop unless it was plugged in. The charge indicator showed that I had a full battery but when I unplugged the power cord, it would shut off immediately.
I removed the back and the battery was swollen. I found out about a battery recall for other HP products but of course, mine wasn't part of the recall.
Needless to say, I never replaced the battery and the laptop is more of a desktop now. I have it plugged into one of those uninterruptable power supplys (UPS) just in case the power goes out and I need to save something before shutting it down.
