HP ENVY x360 - m6-w105dx (ENERGY STAR)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Will you please clarify few questions for me

1. As per manual m6-w105dx x360 works strictly only with 250Gb M2 SSD or 500Gb or even 1TB will work too?

2. If, after installing 250GB SSD M.2, B-Key, SATA-3, TLC , NGFF 2280 as it says in manual, bios doesn't see it, does it mean that on my motherboard the M2 slot is not activated and there is nothing I can do or I still should try different remedies such as to boot with just m.2, adjust legacy and secure boot options in bios, or something else ?

3. If I give up on M2  and decide to replace HDD to 2.5 inch SATA SSD can I use 1, 2 or more TB, is there any size limitation?

I will really appreciate if you could help me .

Thanks!

Doing a search and finding other posts all indicating M.2 SSD's didn't work, I would say that it is fruitless to try.

I guess then the manual is correct...a different motherboard is used for the notebooks that actually come with a working M.2 SATA SSD.

Hi:

I believe that since your notebook has a 2.5" drive, there is no M.2 slot for a SSD.

If you look at chapter 3, page 15 of the service manual, different motherboards were used for the notebooks that came with M.2 SSD's from the factory.

Based on the info in the manual, your only option would be to replace the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a 2.5" SATA SSD.

I would not recommend going beyond a 2 TB 2.5" SATA SSD.

So what's this ?

That looks like a M.2 slot to me, so I guess the manual is not correct.

But I would look at this discussion, and probably not install a M.2 SSD.

...and this person indicated the same model did not have a M.2 slot (unless he couldn't see it).

Yes, I saw that discussion and reached the same conclusion, but I wanted to know if someone had reached another answer or if it worked for him to put an M2 ssd

I will have to take that answer as correct, for now, if I find an m2 that works, I will be publishing the result, thank you very much

You're very welcome.

You may want to see if you can find the actual M.2 SSD with the part number that HP installed.
