I see Part # L20114-001 in HP.com. but 1 question i have, is this 30 pin or 40pin?

i think the laptop i have uses 40pin screen. how to check this ?

L20114-001 is 30-pin, you're right. It's touchscreen variant.

I do not have exact sources. To be 100% sure, the current screen should be checked to see if it has 30 or 40 pins. There may be differences in the model range of the notebook and differences between touchscreen and non-touchscreen. Please check.

I ordered L20114 and i received 30pin screen, when i tried to fix it in place of old broken one, then i realized the existing one is 40pin, hence the new one is not sitting/connecting.

On the broken screen backside, i see below.

REPLACE WITH HP SPARE

GB1980

Could you help further from where i can source this part ?

L23846-001 is indeed different from the HP maintenance and service manual ! 

In which country do you live ? It is about an order possibility.
