I'm trying to use the left/right arrow keys in windows terminal and gvim and they don't work at all. The up/down arrows keys are working fine. I'm using the latest version of windows 11 and all my drivers are upto date. I tried resetting my OS but it did not help. I would appreciate any pointers on how to fix or debug

Hi @mlwp,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thanks for providing the details. Since you’re experiencing issues only with the left/right arrow keys (but not the up/down) in Windows Terminal and gVim, even after an OS reset, this is likely a hardware input or key mapping issue rather than a driver or OS problem.

Step 1: Test the Keyboard in UEFI Hardware Diagnostics

This checks whether the keys are functioning at the hardware level. Try and let me know.

  1. Shut down your laptop.
  2. Power it on and immediately press Esc repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.
  3. Press F2 to enter HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.
  4. Choose Component Tests > Keyboard Test.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions and test all arrow keys.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
