My HP ENVY battery is obviously swollen in the center of the bottom. When placed on a flat surface, it rocks rather than resting on the rubber footpads at the four corners. My ENVY was purchased 5/6/2017 and is out of warranty for HP (1y1y0y) and Costco 2yr. There is an major recall program for swollen HP batteries. And "HP is providing battery replacement services by an authorized technician at no cost" for listed batteries. The HP Battery Validation Utility says my battery is "not affected by the HP recall program. A replacement is not necessary. You may continue to use your battery," Why is my battery not on the recall list? Can anything be done to escalate HP support to get it onto the recall list?
I am very doubtful that continued use of the fat battery is really safe. What HP points of contact should I pursue for swollen battery list expansion and out of warranty repair availability & cost?
