Hi all,
I am looking to buy HP EliteBook 840 G6 (part number 7NW04PA) and want to use HP UltraSlim Docking Station (part number D9Y32AA).
Are these two parts compatible? The dock came up in the "Accessories" section of the EliteBook product page but I'm not entirely sure. Which docks are compatible if this one isn't?
Thank you

Yes the 840 G6 has the "docking connector" used with the Ultraslim Dock. It clips in from the side of the laptop and provides true docking with power supply and everything coming in from the dock. It provides all of the ports you could want: DP (not HDMI), USB 3.0, ethernet. Some versions of the 840 G6 have a Thunderbolt type USB-C port which also provides charging and will allow for a wide range of port replication. I believe the Thunderbolt port option will give a bit more bandwidth for external monitors. However, the HP Ultraslim is widely available and has been around so long you can pick one up very inexpensively. We are using one in my office for one of my employees on a Zbook 15u G4 and I think I paid about $50 for it used on eBay, so you do not have to pay $265 for it.
