See what I said here:
You cannot assume that because it is on the chipset compatibility list it will work but you can be sure if it is not on the chipset list it will not work.
So the answer to your question is a resounding "maybe". All I can say for sure is that it will work with CPUs listed in the manual.
Post back with any questions but please accept as solution if it is the answer you need even if not the exact answer you wanted.

i7-3520m is the top listed processor:
None of the processors listed in the Manual is a Quad Core. Its the QM77 chipset and the i7-3740qm is not on the compatibility list for the chipset, even though the i7-3720QM is (odd),

Beyond showing you the Manual and the chipset compatibility list not much more we can do. HP does not really support CPU upgrades so there is no official list of what works other than the list of processors in the manual, which you can rely upon almost 100%. Beyond that, it is a gamble. We do see reports of success with upgrades to processors not listed in the Manual sometimes, however. You cannot assume that because it is on the chipset compatibility list it will work but you can be sure if it is not on the chipset list it will not work.
Good luck and post back with any more questions.
