HP ENVY Laptop - 13-ba0553sa
Microsoft Windows 11

I own a HP Envy 13-ba0553sa notebook (out of warranty) that is only 2 years old but now has an issue with the display separating itself from the main chassis as you open or close the lid which gets worse each time you attempt to open/close the lid. It started with a clicking noise, and has progressed to the point where you need to hold the hinge together as you close it. I haven't disassembled the laptop yet, but I believe this to be the same as many of the issues that others have had with identical or previous models. It's caused not by the hinge itself, but by the weak plastic parts that are anchoring the hinge to the laptop, hence the clicking noise as the plastic begins to weaken and eventually break I believe.

My question is probably the same as everyone else's - what can be done about this other than attempting a repair which will likely eventually result in the same issue as the weakness in the design will remain?

My issue is very likely the same as these:

Take your pick of threads, there are hundreds of them! It seems there are now class-action lawsuits being taken also in the US:

I'm based in the UK though and it seems these are yet to be resolved? What do I do in the meantime?
