Envy 15 TS
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I bought an HP Envy 15 TS around 2012.  It hasn't been used much.  I have loved my laptop, however! I am so disappointed with the problems I have had with the hinges.  I'm not sure if the hinge broke the casing or vice versa, but a few years ago, despite NO damage to the computer, I started having a problem with the hinge.  The casing on the bottom just sort of splits open.  I took it in for repairs and they pointed out that a little screw had come out the casing.  They replaced and again it came out.  Then they said the hinge was damaged.  Had that repaired.  But now the screen is partially black.  Not sure if it's directly related to the hinge problem.  They want a ridiculous amount of money to repair the screen.  The thing is, my sister has the identical laptop and she has had exactly the same problem with the left hinge breaking.  It is VERY disappointing that such expensive high-end computers have this weakness.  And let me say, that BOTH computers are used much less than others.  It's not that they take a massive amount of use, opening and closing all the time or being dropped.  Both laptops mostly sit on a desk not being taken away.  And from what I've seen on the forums, people are always told that the warranty doesn't cover neglect or careless handling!  Well, my laptop is way out of warranty but it is still completely unacceptable that a weakness such as this is not corrected.  Really HP!!  I will NOT be buying another HP and certainly won't recommend the laptops.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.
