UPDATE:
HP RESPONDED - they regret to inform me but my unit is out of warranty and they no longer have parts for it. They suggested I buy a new one.
Very dissappointed. Folks if u could see inside units for this model, looking at the LEFT HINGE -which is the failing one for sooooo many ppl, you would see 5 tiny plastic cylinders with threaded holes in them. The screws that go inside these holes are less than a quarter inch. The lid the hinges support is very heavy.
Such a bad design. HP IS CLEARLY AT FAULT.
I paid over$1000 for this high end laptop. Very disappointed in HP. The least they could do is pay for used replacement parts from a 3rd party - give me a rebate check.
THIS MODEL SHOULD HAVE BEEN RE-CALLED.
