Upon powerup, the computer functions normally, but after a while the keyboard stops working. At that point the mouse and trackpad still function, but typing does nothing.
If I attempt to shut down the computer normally (i.e., via the Windows Start menu...Power...Shut Down), the computer hangs and does not shut down.
However, if I power off using the power switch and immediately power the computer back on, the computer functions normally including the keyboard - until the keyboard stops working again after a while.
This could be a heat-related problem, but the fact that it works again after powering off and immediately back on, and continues to work for quite a while, leaves me wondering, as there would not be much heat lost during the computer being off for only about 1 second.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Hello Nirvana_95, and thanks for the reply.
No hardware, software, driver, or other changes have been made, other than the usual Windows updates for security, et al. The problem started while I was in the middle of creating a large Word document, not following any 'update'.
Based on tests I have been doing, I now believe the problem may be temperature-related and it may be affecting the connection between the keyboard and the main board. I am finding that it is lasting significantly less time after a power-off reset than previously, but when I move to our cool basement, it lasts longer before failing.
I had this problem once before and reseating the keyboard connection resolved it, but not so this time. I have opened the laptop and reseated the keyboard connection but the problem continues. Is there a way to properly clean the fingers on the flexible printed circuit that forms the keyboard cable?
