HP Envy 17-da0790ng
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi,

does anyone know if it is possible to install a second SSD in the HP Envy 17-da0790ng laptop? The seller has given statements ranging from "should actually be possible" to "no, there is no connection for this on the motherboard". I have not yet found a maintenance/service manual for this Envy type online so that I can read it myself. If anyone knows where I can find a service manual, please let me know too.

Thanks for reading and thanks for any constructive advice.

Reino

Hi, Reino:

Both the service manual and the service teardown video indicate that there is only support for one M.2 NVMe SSD:

Hi, Paul:

Thank you very much for the very helpful information and the two links. It's a shame that only one SSD can be installed in this 17.3" laptop series. That may be good for a large battery, but unfortunately it doesn't suit my application. I used to use ZBooks with two SSD modules; but I no longer have that quality requirement and the ZBooks were often heavy (and expensive). So I wanted to switch to a cheaper series in the consumer sector.

I'll just have to keep looking. Unfortunately, the sellers' device descriptions usually don't state whether another SSD can be installed. Apparently this need isn't particularly common.

Bye - Reino
