Hi everyone,
I have been having issues with the right hinge of my HP Envy 17" laptop for about 5-6 months now. I was surprised to see that this was happening as I have NEVER dropped my $1000+ laptop. For the past two years, my laptop has more or less sat on top of my desk. This seems to be an ongoing issue among other HP Envy users. A few examples are linked below.
Since the hinge has been coming off and being popped back into place, the system fan has been suffering. I now receive a System Fan 90B danger code when I start up my computer. This issue has been ongoing for about a month now.
I tried calling HP (+1 800 474-6836) but they did not help with my situation. They said my laptop was out of warranty and that they could repair my laptop for $400+ (including tax + shipping). Being a school teacher, I really have no such funds to be spending on a laptop that I was hoping would stay intact for much longer than this. It is disheartening to think that this is a huge problem with HP Envy laptops. I called my local uBreakiFix and they mentioned that other people have had the same issues with their HP Envy and they could not help. Their services could not be offered because they cannot outsource/find the backplate to repair the hinge.
