The description of your USB-C port with the Thunderbolt symbol missing the arrow head matches my situation and the answer to your question sent to HP about the capability of this port is what I am needing as well. Please keep me informed if you get any further information. Thanks also for the chart of symbols identifying the different USB ports. That is very helpful.

Thanks for the link for fixing USB-3 problems. I will keep it in my bag of tools. I think that the post from GuyFromMars is on target for getting the rest of the answer that I am looking for to be able to use my Thunderbolt port. Thanks for your help.

I am having the game issue. I have updated every driver on the computer and it still will not recognize certain devices. I got a HP Thunderbolt G2 hub and it took quite some time to get it to function properly. I bought an external gpu and it seems I may have wasted my money as the computer will not recognize. I have restarted and updated, and still no dice

@cpetey375 Welcome to HP Community!
I understand that the thunderbolt port is not working.
Have you tried to connect the different devices to the thunderbolt port and checked?
Please perform a thunderbolt port component test and let us know the result.
Please refer to the following link to perform the HP component test.
https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03467259
Please try to update the BIOS and check.
Keep us posted,

You have the right answer with your chart of Icons. Apparently my port is not a Thunderbolt after all since the arrow head is missing on the lightning strike symbol. From your chart, I now believe that my port is a USB 3.1 Generation 1. That is why it is not Thunderbolt dock compatible. I have accepted this answer before and given kudos, but recently got an email prompt with another solution. Your answer resolved my problem so I do not need any further assistance on this. Thanks again for your help. I hope there will be no further responses to my request for help on this question.
