Hello!
So I bought this laptop (HP ENVY Notebook - 15t-q400 CTO (ENERGY STAR)) over a year ago and it has been working perfectly for me in the time that I had used it for schoolwork and gaming. However, I noticed a problem that has been getting progressively worse lately. When I first used this laptop a year ago, it was able to handle gaming for long periods of time and did not overheat so much. Recently, the laptop often overheats faster and much hotter when gaming, eventually leading to it automatically shutdown when it gets too hot. The fan also runs more harder as I game. This problem is worse when playing more graphically intense games. I want to fix my laptop so that it doesnt overheat so much and shutdown, and make it run as well as when I first got it. What I should do to fix this problem?

Greetings @PFunkX,

I understand that you are facing an issue with your computer overheating and shutting down, is that right?
Not to worry, I will be glad to assist you.

Have you run a diagnostics on your computer?
Have you tried to update all the drivers using HP Support Assistant?

Once all the drivers are updated, especially BIOS and chipset, shut down your computer.
Wait for a minute.
Turn the computer On and keep tapping F2 repeatedly on startup to enter system diagnostics.
Once the computer is in system diagnostics run a system test on your computer to make sure all the components are working fine.

Thank you for the response!
I'll try out all the suggestions you provided. I also noticed in one of your articles, I might also need to clean the vents? Is cleaning the vents a last restort if the other tips don't work?

Thanks for the reply, it is recommended to clean the vents on a regular basis. Please do try the steps suggested in your spare time and if the issue persists, please contact our phone support team to check on the service options available for your computer.
Whenever you use the computer, make sure to use it on a flat surface so that the vents are not blocked.
Keep me posted.
