In my experience with the same issue: offering a discount on the retail price of a replacement device or a repair service for several hundred USD (or about a third the cost of the device) is the best course of action from HP that we will get, as customers with a defective hinge.
I rely on this device every day for work and cannot afford to send it away for an unknown length of time or spend hundreds out of pocket, so the best solution I have found so far is to apply pressure to the screen with an "alligator" binder clip around the failed side of the display lid. HP has not offered a solution that takes responsibility for the device, which for me is likely because it failed 13 months after purchase and therefore out of warranty.

I've had the HP Envy laptop for 18 months model - 13-ba0079TU and the hinge of the laptop has broken causing the lid to be mis-alligned when closing the laptop lid which has caused the screen to pop out and eventually crack from the dodgy hinge. Can this be fixed or replaced?

I’ve had the exact same thing happen! I bought this laptop in January 2019, I’ve never dropped it or damaged it in anyway, it’s always on my bed and the left hinge has broken causing the screen to separate and crack. I took it to Best Buy geek squad and was informed that they’ve seen tons of people come in with the exact same issue and that it’s a design flaw with the HP envy which is very disappointing because I loved this laptop
